Challenging existing systems that violate people’s rights
The National Parole Transformation Project (NPTP) is a coordinated campaign that aims to challenge existing systems that are violating people’s rights and transform parole into a tool for decarceration. These systems of surveillance and control have expanded unchecked, funneling hundreds of thousands of people into prisons.
About Us
WHAT NPTP DOES

The National Parole Transformation Project grew out of the Roderick and Solange MacArthur Justice Center’s (MJC) successful litigation challenging unjust parole practices. NPTP was launched in 2022 to build upon MJC’s work expanding the rights of people on parole in preliminary and final revocation proceedings in both adult and youth systems. By partnering with community organizations, systems-impacted people, and attorneys, NPTP uses litigation and community advocacy to develop local and national initiatives that push parole systems toward becoming tools for decarceration.
